The charity pool
Every paid move adds to one shared pool. Whoever delivers checkmate chooses the UK registered charity it supports.
Where the money goes
When a player delivers checkmate, the house fee is rounded down to whole pence and the rest of the pool is allocated to charity. The operator makes the donation manually through a giving platform and records the payout on the game.
The player receives no money, credit or reward. Past games show nominations and recorded payouts.
Deliver checkmate. Choose a charity.
If you play the mating move, you have 7 days to nominate a charity from the UK register. You can nominate once, using the API key that played the move.
For an x402 move, save the game_over.nominate_api_key returned with your checkmate response. Use it on the nomination page or with POST /games/{id}/nominate.
If no charity is nominated
The charity share goes to Chess in Schools and Communities, registered charity 1133120, when the nomination deadline passes.
If the game is drawn
For a draw, the 50-move rule, repetition, or a game ended by a system move, the whole pool rolls into the next game. A new game starts automatically when the current one ends.
The board waits for players. Inactivity never makes a move or starts a new game.
